Rose Rogers

Rose obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Christian Secondary Education at Hartland College in Virginia. After working for seven years as office manager for Young Disciple Ministries, she met a rancher in Canada. In 2001 she married and moved to Saskatchewan where she continued doing free-lance editing of Seventh-day Adventist publications while assisting her husband on his ranch. After they added four children to the family, she came to understand that the dynamics of domestic violence do not always leave visible bruises. She fled to a women’s shelter and leaned heavily on the local Adventist church for support. After less than two years of separation, her husband died in a farming accident.

In the past four years, she and her children have encountered many instances of abuse in churches, day care centres, schools, and sporting clubs that they interacted with. Each time, Rose says they grew in understanding how to “put on the whole armour of God” and use “the sword of the Spirit” to confront abusers. Sadly we find that in most cases, the administration sides with the abusers and against the victims.

Rose is seeking further education as she volunteers to support victims of abuse and educate pastors, teachers, coaches, and child care givers on the dynamics of abuse and prevention. Rose enjoys deep Bible study, teaching, writing, singing, and public speaking.
