Steve Nelson

The Hope of Survivors, a nonprofit worldwide ministry of compassion providing support, hope and encouragement to victims of clergy sexual abuse and misconduct, was co-founded by Steve and his lovely wife Samantha Nelson in December 2002.

Dr. Nelson presently serves an ordained pastor of a four-church district in Wyoming, employed by the Rocky Mountain Conference of Seventh-day Adventists. In addition to pastoral ministry, he is a former and current President of The Hope of Survivors and speaks internationally on clergy sexual abuse, revival among God’s children, and many other topics. Dr. Nelson has also developed a line of Bible studies in a bookmark format called StudyMarks and has written a book entitled Forever Free to help victims in their healing journey. In addition to his Doctorate in Ministry, Pastor Nelson holds a Bachelor’s degree in Social & Behavioral Sciences; and a Masters of Pastoral Ministry from Andrews University. He has worked on many evangelistic campaigns and outreach projects throughout the years.

In addition to Dr. and Mrs. Nelson’s education and ongoing training, Steve and Samantha are uniquely qualified due to their own past experience. Under their direction, and building on that personal experience, the knowledge of God’s Word, and other inspired sources, The Hope of Survivors has helped thousands of individuals to begin to heal from the devastation of clergy sexual abuse and to renew and strengthen their relationship with the Lord. Through personal correspondence and victim retreats/conferences, The Hope of Survivors has assisted individuals from all denominations in searching for truth and healing, modeling God’s love to these hurting individuals. The ministry also provides educational materials and seminars for pastors, churches and the general public. Thus, Pastor Steve and Samantha move forward in faith, counting on the Lord for His marvelous wisdom and knowledge.
