Dear Friends,

Thank you, as always, for your prayers and generous support! Without you, there are thousands of victims of clergy sexual abuse who would not be receiving the emotional and spiritual support they need and they would be left without hope. And hope, as you’ll read in this testimony, is so critical!

“Thank you so much for your website. You have no idea what a great help it was for me. It really explains everything so well. I was in an abusive relationship with my pastor for a year and a half. I am so thankful you wrote about the confusion because I felt very confused throughout, because he kept saying this was from God…and I was to be become his next wife, the one God ordained for him. He used scripture continually through this whole ordeal. Scripture is hard for me to read now. Thank God for your ministry. What a blessing to others! You see, I don’t think women see this as abuse, they don’t understand. But thanks to you and your ministry and website, it is so true, and everything makes sense now.”

I want to remind you of some current opportunities and needs so you can join us in prayer, consider volunteering or sharing with someone who might be willing to volunteer, or make a donation to help cover these expenses.

First of all, we’ve had some staffing changes, as people have relocated or accepted employment opportunities that prohibit them from volunteering for THOS as they once did. Here are the immediate needs for volunteers in these divisions:

1) The UK–this is a very urgent need for leadership positions
2) Australia–this is also a very urgent need for leadership & support positions
3) South Africa–additional helpers to support current staff
4) Romania–this is an immediate need
5) The Philippines–additional helpers to support current staff
6) US–additional helpers to support current staff
7) Latino–additional bilingual helpers to support current staff

Additionally, The Hope of Survivors has the opportunity to exhibit at the following conferences/conventions in 2019-2020 (payment for space reservation is required ASAP).

Pathfinder Camporee (approx. 50,000 youth) – $480
SheSpeaks (approx. 1,000 attendees) – $5,000
AACC World Conference (approx. 7,000 attendees) – $2,000
Church of God Women’s Convention (approx. 1,000) – $1,000
General Conference – United Methodist Church – $1,250
General Conference – Seventh-day Adventists – $2,500
And a few others!

Exhibits are so important, as they open up the possibility of sharing with many thousands of people who would otherwise not know about The Hope of Survivors. We have never had an exhibit where a victim of clergy sexual abuse has not found us for the first time and been so happy to do so! In addition to being there for victims, we are providing much-needed education and awareness to church members and leaders while there.
